For the 3rd time the Little North Hope Junior Musher Camp was held in North Hope. The kids learn advanced sled dogs and kennel managing, improved their wilderness survival skills with a final serious camp-out trip with dogs, explored woods and their flora and fauna. The weather was challenging so we all had to prove strong and experienced.
The sport program included learning some more serious dryland sports like scootering and carting, with achievements to be proved at the final multi-race.
Traditionally, a lot of art and craft workshops were offered like making handmade name pendants for dogs, painting the kennel, etc. Together we started the North Hope fruit garden to symbolize our friendship and had an exciting quest game seeking for the buried treasure and many many more.
Everyone had so much fun that is already looking forward for the winter North Hope Junior Camp scheduled for February 2013!
Thanks everyone involved! Special “thank you” goes to Lyosha Kotov, a graduate from our orphanage who returned from the army where he had been working with sled dogs and made a wonderful instructor at the kids camp this year! Thank you thank you thank you! We are so proud of you!
